Day 3: You never can tell

 Day 3: Corleone to Prizzi

It's never just about the Stats ...

Today - Kms: 20
Todate - Kms: 70
To Go - Kms: 115

Completed: 38%

Overnight at Hotel Leon d'Oro.

The Wise Pilgrim always takes the Healthy Option at Breakfast ...

One of my 5 a Day 🍏 & an optional 🍒 !!

We were soon walking through Corleone.

What did William Faulkner write in Requiem to a Nun:

The past is never dead. It's not even past.

Walking up Via Roma, I thought:

Whilst Pigrims walk together, each Pilgrim must walk the Stairway to Heaven on their own.

Soon we were looking back across Corleone:

We had Elevenses at the top of the Cozzo Spolentino, where the Greeks walked 27 Centuries ago:

And Lunch looking out to Prizzi Lake:

This was a day of amazing views:

After the 4 kiolmetres climb up to Prizzi, we deserved our Beer at the End !

With Jackie & Jeff joining us today for the rest of the Magna Via, we are Full Complement.

For those who have read Chaucer's Canterbury Tales; like the 39 Pilgrims who walked 60 miles / 100 kilometres from London to Canterbury Cathedral - we are an eclectic group.

Unlike Chaucer's Pilgrims, we do not have a Manciple. My Advice:Never travel without one !!

What we do have is ...

From Left to Right:

Accountant

Engineer

Actuary - David

Teacher

Accountant

For those who may be unfamiliar with the work of Actuaries:

They use mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to assess the risk of potential events.

We often ask David: How far to go?

At which - helped by Outdoor Active & GPS - he is excellent.

But when we ask: How long have each of us got?

His answers are much less confident !

May I suggest we turn to a Favourite Poem:

In the end we all know that the Answer lies in Martin Scorcese's Pulp Fiction.

With dancing by John Travolta & Uma Thurman and original lyrics and music by Chuck Berry, the soundtrack is by Bruce Springsteen:

You never can tell

PS

Tomorrow our Guest Walker will be on old friend.

One who has walked One Day on each & every Pilgrimage I have done.

He is - of course - Mr Billy Fury.
