Pilgrims: Just Me

After an enjoyable overnight stay at the very friendly & peaceful Foresteria in the former convent of Santa Maria dei Servi, the good news was that the Sun was shining!

I was soon past the commercial district, including the HQ of Buitoni, founded in Sansepolcro in 1827 & now owned by Nestlé.

It was a real privilege to walk through the rich agricultural countryside of this part of the Tiber Valley.

It's Harvest Time.

Some crops waiting to be picked:

Pomegranates & Apples

Some already being harvested:

I remembered the hymn my Grandad Jack - who farmed at Beckley Furnace - would have sung so often at this time of year at  the Methodist Chapel at Brede:

Soon it was up the hill to Citerna, a hill top town built in 13th & 14th centuries.

Wonderful views from the Piazza Scipione Scipione, looking East across the Tiber valley:

I walked on for another 15 minutes to my overnight stop at La Rasse.

Good views back to Citerna:

So after 9 days walking Da Solo, this evening the first of my friends from 🇬🇧 will arrive to accompany me on the next week of the Ramble to Rome.

We've been Friends for very nearly 50 years.
But who is he?
And where did we meet?

Well, they're Tales for tomorrow 's Blog...

Ciao, Ricardo 🇮🇹

PS

So how is my Italian going?
No. 1

Some things just don't need Translating!!

Sign at the bottom of the climb up to Citerna

As they say in these parts:

Dov'è la scala mobile segreta?
