Rest Day No. 2 - A Lollapalooza of a day

A pre- breakfast stroll round the delightful hill city of Gubbio:




Then off to the Lavanderia for one of the greatest of all Roman Inventions - Lavaggio Revisionato ; the Serviced Wash!

Nigel & Kate - friends I've known since college days who will be walking the next 3 days with Roger & me to Assisi - drove us to Lago Trasimeno, Italy's 4th largest lake:



We were soon on the ferry going to Isola Maggiore :



Once the home to 600 people, now just 8 live there.

It is famous for its lace making:



We walked up the hill to the top of the island to Pieve San Michèle de Arcangelo, built in honour of St Francis who spent the 40 days of Lent on Insola Maggiore in 1212:


Returning to Gubbio we used the Funivia (lift) to reach the Basilica de Sant'Urbaldo, high above the town:





Then it was back to the Lavanderia to collect the washing:
